Book review: Kane and able by Jeffrey Archer

A must-read – If reading a thriller is such a nerve-racking experience, I want it more!!

Kane and Able is a well-written life journey of 2 unrelated characters. A common characteristic of both the characters is the sheer motivation to achieve their goal. The discipline they follow is inspiring! The way the author connects their lives will make you wonder about people you are connected with and their life stories!

You will feel empathy for both characters and change your opinion on each character as the story progresses. The entire journey will give you several life lessons!

Some learnings I collected during my journey with the book.

1. One good friend is all you need in life.

2. Never judge someone until you know them in and out. It’s better to confront someone rather than judge them.

3. Struggles are constant in life. They are also the best learnings. You have to build them towards your advantage and continue to move forward.

4. Discipline, learnings, and experiences of childhood are the best gift one can get. It retains as second nature with the person.

5. If you do good to others, make sure you let them know.

6. A personal agony and hatred always would only result in personal loss, even if it does not seem that way at first. A single second of life wasted to take revenge is overall a loss to a short precious life one has.

Article: I survived without eating anything for 10 days straight!

Things that matter

A small goal that becomes a big motivation!

Many times, specific, small motivating goals drive us to reach a significant milestone. These goals can be very personal; it may have high emotional value to you but may not make sense to others. This article is about one such goal that I recently achieved.

~10 years ago, when my friends and I were doing our undergrad studies, we used to fantasize about the business cards that corporate personnel used to carry. I loved the swag of exchanging contact details by this crisp, entirely rectangle piece of thick paper with a clearly defined logo of an organization and a professional title. As a college kid, these cards with successful titles always fascinated me – a title you could only envision achieving after graduating with flying colors. Sheer imagination of exchanging business cards with clients, along with a firm shake of a hand, and a statement saying, “It was a pleasure doing business with you”, had motivated me to perform better in college.

I was so eager to get a business card that I printed one of my own at one point in time. However, the absence of a company’s brand name and a title never really satisfied the urge. It was clear to me that I would need to be patient and diligent towards achieving this goal.

As time flew, technology took over the world! Now, most of the people were connecting on-the-go with just a click on LinkedIn. Of course, LinkedIn is a logical solution to many of the networking challenges. These days no one would want to maintain a pile of business cards and search for it when they need to connect with that person. LinkedIn makes sense. But somehow, over the years, I still evaluated my career progression on a simple fact – would I be able to get a business card of my own? So far in my career, I never got an option to get a business card because of my work’s nature.

A recent job change allowed me to join a reputed biotech company as a full-time employee. I was pumped for several reasons – a good work profile, great culture, growth, and learning opportunities. Having realized all the perks, I also knew that, finally, having a business card was also one of the key reasons for my happiness.

I know that the generation has shifted to technology, and paper is too old school. But still, in my first week at work, I got my business card! It was one of the most satisfying moments of my career. I could feel that all my hard work has paid its due, and I have finally achieved my goal.

I am very excited to share this story with you. Please share your thoughts on this article. Was it motivating? Were you able to connect with this story? What are such motivational fantasies that drive you forward?

Thank you for reading.

Book review: 11 minutes

It feels so good after reading this book!

The story has a feel-good factor to it. If you have experienced the emotion of love (at least once) in your life span, this book will touch your soul!
We are so lucky to have experienced something so divine.
The novel builds a beautiful story to define the real purpose of sex and love. Paolo Coelho is successful in ensuring that the readers understand how sacred they are.

It pulls you away from the hectic work schedule and life stress to a younger age when feelings and emotions superseded practicality.

Some learnings I collected during my journey with the book.
Ask questions and answer questions without worrying about what the world would think.
”Considering the way the world is, one happy day is a miracle” – so just embrace it when you get one.
Sometimes there is nothing to lose. Just the way, there is time to weep and time to laugh. You also need to understand that there is time to embrace and time to refrain from embracing.

Shayar kisi ek k ho nahi sakte!

Hello!!
This is my first home recorded video featuring a very special Hindi poem. This poem talks about a theory explaining how a poet can not be of one single person as their job is to describe beauty which is spread over everyone! To this, a poet replies how he intends to write all his work for that one person who is the only true source of inspiration. He intends to never allow the Beaty of his inspiration fade, given she allows him to do it for rest of his life!

When sky goes gray!

One of the first poems I wrote when I first came to the states! After a humor-full interaction with the crowd, this short English poem expresses an encouraging message about keeping your self-focused even when things don’t seem to go smooth..
